New Years Day is probably the day that most persons begin their fitness journey. Then there is Monday that comes in for a close second.
But why not start today?
I started my journey on November 4th,2018. I decided enough was enough.
But I want you to know that I didn’t just jump into everything head-on.
The first day I decided to cut things out of my diet. Meaning most processed foods, cookies, cakes, ice cream, juice, and soda.
Then I looked into healthy alternatives that would help me when I would get a craving because I knew I would. This time I was preparing myself to win and not setting myself up for failure.
I didn’t buy anything that could tempt me. Now, I have more control over myself and having snacks in the house are no longer a trigger.
The first few months I also didn’t eat out because I didn’t feel equipped to be in that type of setting. But I do eat out now. I don’t do it often, but I do it if I want.
Currently, I am a pescatarian.
The only seafood I do eat is fish and canned tuna. But other than that I am vegetarian for the most part.
When you’re on a budget frozen veggies are a lifesaver. Farmers markets are a great place to get fresh fruits. Use what you have to make it work for you. Eating healthy can get pricey, but also going to the doctor and buying prescriptions even with insurance can get quite expensive also.
You can invest in your health now or you can pay for your health later!
I also researched a lot on counting calories and macros. This was also a game-changer.
When it came to exercise I started out by walking. Then I started incorporating home workouts and eventually weight lifting.
I also researched different types of exercise for what I wanted to accomplish. I’ll go further in-depth into this in another blog.
A few weeks after I started working out intensely I noticed my weight wasn’t moving. But I was also stressed out about my personal life and I wasn’t sleeping enough.
Getting enough sleep and enough water are crucial in weight loss.
But like anything you are interested in you must find time to learn and understand what a healthy lifestyle entails. Don’t take my word for it. Use the internet to your advantage and research for yourself.
What works for me may not work for you. There is no one model on how to lose weight. Everyone is different and everyone’s body reacts differently to food and exercise!
The first step is trying and the next step is not giving up when things get hard!
