Loose Skin And Weightloss

Losing weight can be the most liberating and freeing experience anyone can encounter, especially if you’re someone who has been overweight for most of your life.

But loose skin is a whole other mental battle that you’ll have to face.

It may make you self conscious and uncomfortable. Some persons may even give up on their journey.

How did I deal with it?

I knew at my size loose skin was inevitable so I accepted it.

I knew that I’ve abused and tormented my body for years and this was the repercussions of my actions.

Would I let this deter me from freeing myself from the prison I had built for myself?

Of course not!

But I did do my best to limit the amount of excess skin I would have. Did it work? Well, to tell you the truth I’m not sure.

For someone who has lost 135 pounds in nine months, I think the amount of loose skin I have isn’t too bad.

If you’re wondering what I did, it wasn’t anything too out of the way.

I weight trained from the very beginning of my journey. I think a lot of persons focus on cardio a lot at the beginning of their lifestyle change thinking it’s the best option to lose weight. But cardio helps you to not only lose fat but also muscle mass.

When you gain weight your skin stretches and loses its elasticity.

Weight training helps you to lose fat but you retain muscle mass which helps in the appearance of loose skin.

I also take royal jelly, vitamin c and I drank a lot of water. I take collagen off and on but it’s not consistent! But, I’ve heard of great things of other persons taking it!

I’m not saying if you do this it will significantly reduce your chances of loose skin, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

Don’t let fear hold you back from being the best version of yourself. Loose skin or not you are beautiful.

The first step is trying and the next step is not giving up when things get hard!

  1. Thank you, such a good positive post! Loose skin is a thing I think about, I have no idea how I’ll feel, I think I’ll be accepting, as you say, I’ve done this to my body. I will definitely try to drink more water and work on exercising. Again thank you 😊
