If you’re in the process of trying to attain a healthier lifestyle I know you may be struggling with eating healthy.
Some persons may even think that as long as they’re exercising they should be able to eat what they want.
But my question to you is, “Do you think you can out-exercise a bad diet?”
If you get a Big Mac meal the Big Mac burger is 540calories alone(source: McDonald’s website). A medium fries is 340 calories (source: McDonald’s website). A medium coco-cola is 220 calories (source McDonald’s website). That’s a total of 1100 calories for one meal. The macros are 149 g of Carbs, 29 g of protein and 44 g of fat (Source McDonald’s website).
Most persons eat at least three times per day. And most fast food places average about 1100 – 1800 per meal depending on what you order. If you’re eating out like this you’re averaging at least 3300 calories per day!
If you weigh 250 pounds and you walk briskly for an hour you only burn 595 calories (source very fit well). Even if you factor the calories you burn from everyday life, I’ll estimate you burn 1800 calories. In total, you would have burn 2395 calories.
You ate 3300 calories, but you only burn 2395 calories.
So to answer that question I asked earlier, No you can’t out-exercise a bad diet.
You need to have a balanced diet. I’m not saying you can’t have a Big Mac if you want. What I am saying is that you need to have balance. You can’t have a Big Mac and then pizza and then Popeyes chicken.
What you put in your body is the most important part of this journey. It’s eighty percent nutrition and twenty percent exercise.
Exercise is important. But you can’t lose weight with it alone. But you can actually lose weight with changing your diet and being in a caloric deficit!
This may sound a bit overwhelming, but as you do it each day it becomes second nature to you.
The first step is trying and the next step is not giving up when things get hard!
