Women are somehow programmed in a way as to over analyze things in almost every situation.
Unfortunately, weight loss is one of those situations.
I find myself comparing myself to persons asking myself why can’t I be like them.
Why can’t I lose weight as fast them?
Why isn’t my body as perfect them?
Why doesn’t she have loose skin and I do?
Why do we weigh the same and she looks smaller.
I can go on and on and on.
But, what I realized after a while was this type of thinking wasn’t helping me progress. Actually, it was doing the opposite.
The drive to be perfect became an obsession. A very unhealthy obsession.
It started to make me depressed.
So, I took a step back from social media to regroup. I had to give myself a pep talk.
“You aren’t perfect. You’ve made some mistakes. One of them was how you abused food. But you’re learning and you’re trying to be better. Actually, you are better. You’re doing great! You’ll get there eventually. Your journey is your journey and it won’t be like anyone else’s. So stop looking at others as a road map on where you should be. You are doing great! Just take it one day at a time!”
I wrote out those words and read them to myself until I got better.
I’m not perfect. I’m just taking it one day at a time! One step at a time!
If you’re dealing with a similar situation and you can’t seem to pull yourself out of the funk it’s put you in. Talk to someone. Talk to a professional if you can. Especially, if your someone who suffers depression or any other form of mental health issues. It’s okay to get help!
Remember the first step is trying and the next step is not giving up when things get hard!
