Most persons don’t even think about sleep during their weight loss journey.
But it’s one of the most important keys in this whole process.
Sleep helps in the process of losing fat and preserving muscle.
Sleep deprivation also causes hunger to increase and also make feeling full harder to attain.
Lack of sleep also causes a decrease in cardiovascular health along with a decrease in insulin sensitivity.
You don’t need me to tell you that lack of sleep causes low energy levels, which will affect your workouts. You may even decide to skip your workouts on the whole.
Poor decision making is linked to sleep deprivation. You’ll notice when you don’t get enough sleep you won’t make the best food choices.
Sleeping less than 8 hours is linked to an increase in cortisol which causes you to store more fat.
Getting more sleep is not as easy as I make it sound.
But if you add it to your list of self-care maybe it becomes a priority.
Remember the first step is trying and the next step is not giving up when things get hard!
