Anyone who has set any goals and has gone after them knows that at some point it gets a bit overwhelming.
The same thing applies to a weight loss journey. Especially, if you have or want to lose a considerable amount of weight.
But if you let this feeling get the best of you, you will fail.
What has worked best for me was to always set smaller goals in between the bigger goals.
If I wanted to lose 50 pounds I would set five smaller goals of 10 pounds and celebrate each of those victories.
That has made me feel a little less anxious because I didn’t focus on the bigger goals just the smaller ones.
Watching or more so stalking certain Instagram influencers page always seemed to give me anxiety because I always seemed to compare myself with them.
In the back of my head, I knew it wasn’t healthy. But I couldn’t seem to stop. Until one day I just decided to unfollow all the pages that affected my mental health.
Seeing others succeed in their weight loss journey was bittersweet in the beginning. It was sweet because it gave me hope that I could do it also.
But it was bitter because I thought about how far I had to go to get where they were.
One day I had a breakdown and reminded myself that this is a lifelong journey. I didn’t get here in a day so don’t expect to lose the weight in a day either.
This journey has lots of ups and downs. I’m sure there are other ways that can help people like me deal with anxiety. So, please share anything that you’ve done personally to help yourself deal with the anxiety and self-doubt down below.
Remember the first step is trying and the next step is not giving up when things get hard!
