I really don’t like the term “diet” because honestly, I’m not on a diet. This is my lifestyle!
At the beginning of my journey, I was way more strict with my diet. I kept anything that would be considered a temptation out of the house and I did not eat out.
As I built more self-control I slowly integrated foods that I’ve always enjoyed.
But I did it in a way that I still lost weight.
The first thing I did was I looked for healthier versions of the foods I loved. I tracked the calories and macros for those foods and made it fit.
But sometimes I wanted the real deal. So, I tracked that food first and ate around those calories and macros and made the rest of my day’s intake fit.
But what I also learned during this journey was I overestimated my portions. This is why tracking my calories and wasn’t enough.
I had to learn what the actual portion was.
This is where my food scale came into the picture. Weighing my food whether it be to bake, prepare, or eat my food was an eye-opener.
I sometimes ate almost double or triple of what the actual portion size was.
Weighing and tracking your food isn’t for everyone but if you’re serious about having a healthy lifestyle where you don’t feel you’re being deprived this is your best option along with exercise!
